I'm doing science a guide ahead, so, chemistry while we do WH. Will I need the new guide or would we be ok using the chemistry on its own?

I think you would be ok to do the science without the new guide. There is a schedule on the Chemistry website. Nothing extra is added like lab sheets.
I have spoken with Dr Wile and he has provided a PDF of review and comprehension questions. These are now on their website. I also found an error on Test 1 solutions. Hopefully that was corrected. Overall I am impressed with the new Chemistry curriculum. I have both Apologia Chemistry and Discovering Design with Chemistry. I like the new format and order of topics. We are ahead of HOD schedule because I am teaching Chemistry lab at our co op. We are using a lab resource that was originally planned here. This is not necessary since the lab in Discovering Design with Chemistry is adequate and vastly improved from Apologia. I am pleased with HOD'S choice.
My son has been excited to do Chemistry and even is completing the problems correctly even though he is not strong in math. We are definitely not completing the traditional science course. He is in 8th grade and completing Algebra. To prepare for this I had him do the science in MTMM over the summer. That was an excellent preparation.
I am thankful to HOD for scheduling this resource.
