When MamaMary shared about her annual tradition of a weekend retreat for her homeschool friends it got my wheels just aturning!!!!

I just got back yesterday from our very own ANNUAL homeschool mom getaway! There were four of us (with many others who couldn't do it this year but already have next years on the books) and we had an absolute BLAST!

We spent the weekend in prayer, in laughter (stitches actually), and dove right into our curriculums. It was the first time I've actually been able to thoroughly look thru my HOD guide and I am soooooo excited about this school year. My boys are going to have a BALL!

It was such an encouraging weekend. We had a bible study on Sunday morning which was supposed to be a sunrise service but no one actually made it out of bed to see the sun! LOL

I left this weekend feeling encouraged, excited, confident and closer to the Lord and a bunch of friends I could easily call my sisters! This was definitely the start of an annual tradition for us.

I would highly recommend it to anyone else to start up and do with your own girlfriends!!!

WOW! Praise the Lord! I am so glad you had a wonderful weekend! Did you take pictures? Where did you girls go? How late did you stay up? ( )

I vote for a HOD get-a-way weekend!!
Second choice would be an invitation to crash one of the retreats that you ladies go to!

Oh I'm jealous! That's okay, right?? I was jealous of Mama Mary's outing and now I'm jealous of this one.

Most everyone I know that is close to me uses the cheapest curriculum they can find whether it works or not, and I know them well enough, some doesn't work, but it was "cheap". I commend them on being frugal, however, "WHERE'S THE EXCITEMENT, THE FUN, THE ENJOYMENT OF HOMESCHOOLING," and not just a drudgery that needs to be completed!

That is absolutely awesome!!! That is a triple threat: girlfriend time, homeschool planning, and the Holy Spirit in the midst of it all!!!

As soon as I make some friends around here who homeschool (I know not a soul in my town that does) I'll suggest it. I was just thinking about just going away by myself for the weekend to rejuvenate and plan....but that is not nearly so much fun.

MamaMary...where do you live? I'm in Orlando...

This looks like SUCH fun! My sister and I have taken a "girl getaway" the last 2 years. We had to "power shop" and "power plan" though for the next book both years. We're hoping someday to have a little down-time to just enjoy the get-away!
