Hi ladies,
Can anyone tell me how much Preparing expects in terms of independent work?
Thanks,
Poppy

If you go to the HOD website, you can download a copy of the first week of plans:
http://www.heartofdakota.com/preparing-hearts.php Then click on the PDF that says "First Week (600 kb), if you haven't already. It would help you see what is like. :)

Once you download that, in the upper right corner of each of the boxes there will be a "T", S, or I. The boxes marked with a T are meant for the teacher to do with the student. The boxes mark "S" are semi independent, "I" boxes are independent.

Generally the Bible Study, Poetry, Storytime, and Reading About History are Teacher instructed. (Although once a week the student are lead in the guide how to do their own quiet time.)

Language Arts (Although sometimes are marked with a "T"), Math, History Project, Timeline, Research, Vocabulary, Geography are "S" boxes. (And no you do not do all those boxes everyday! Some days you do Geography, some days research, some days timeline)

Independent History Study and Science are mark with an "I" There are very clear instructions in the guide for the student, so they know exactly what to do.
If you look at the sample you can see what the student is asked to do independently in these boxes.
Hope that helps! After looking at the sample, let me know if you have any more specific questions.
Michelle
