No Handwriting in Beyond?

I don't see any suggestions for using a Handwriting program in Beyond. Is this somehow included into the material through copywork? I just saw that it goes right into Cheerful cursive in Bigger, so I didn't understand. :?

Thanks,
LeAnna

Yes, handwriting is included as copywork in Beyond. I look at as my son know how to write now he needs practice and that is what the copy work is.

LeAnna,

For a little more clarity on how copywork is scheduled in "Beyond", you may wish to look over the first week of lesson plans. Here's the link to the first week:
http://www.heartofdakota.com/pdf/beyond ... t-week.pdf

Copywork is scheduled daily in the "Language Arts" box. In our guides, we only use a formal handwriting program for the introduction of manuscript and again for the introduction of cursive. In between, we practice handwriting through copywork of poetry and passages we are studying within our lessons for the year. We do this in order to practice handwriting in a meaningful, less workbook-oriented way to cement kiddos handwriting/copywork skills. :D

Carrie

Okay, I see! Thanks for clarifying! :D With kids who are younger.... my daughter who is 4 1/2 is doing LHFHG now, will she still be okay, you think, with just the copywork, and not the formal handwriting lessons?

LeAnna,

With the little ones, I usually use a handwriting workbook, just because they can't write well on lined paper yet. So, I'd probably do one of the handwriting workbook options in LHFHG. If she's already learned her letters, I'd move onto either "A Reason for Writing" 'A' or "Italic Book 'B'. :D

Carrie

LeAnna,

My dd will be in 1st grade and only 5 when we begin Beyond next month. I am planning on using A Reason for Handwriting "A" because she is still learning to form her letters correctly. I may switch to copywork later in the year as her writing improves. HTH!

Yes, it does!:) Thanks Gina!! I will probably end up doing the same, because I don't think my daughter will be quite ready for copywork either.
