I bought my daughter a gorgeous bible with her name inscribed on it, but it doesn't work that great with bible time in Bigger. Often, when asked "What does ---- mean?", our NLT bible chose a different word. I figure I'll have to replace it when she becomes independent in bible. CTC? Plus, my daughter doing WG in the fall, her bible is a sparkley princess one. Probably time to upgrade that, lol.
What version do you use to write bible time with Carrie?
Has anyone found a version that always works or often doesn't?
which bible versions work best?

Re: which bible versions work best?
I have seen somewhere on the HOD page where Carrie says KJV and NIV(84) work best. We use KJV, and I had to modify one of the verses in Bigger because it just doesn't mean the same thing as what was in the guide. So, I am guessing Carrie uses NIV(84) mostly.

Re: which bible versions work best?
This is vague and not helpful but I have used different versions for different years. I like the ESV for Beyond and Bigger. I use the KJV for Preparing that goes with the CD and the Bible time box. But when I am reading to Bible to my kids in the history box or story time box for Preparing, I use the NIV. My dd this year read everything out of the Bible in the NIrV in CTC for the Bible Box and I anticipate she will use the NIrV for Bible quite time for R2R and Rev2Rev.
So.....I guess you can use whatever version you want

I'm not sure, but I would suggest just find the one your family likes and stick with that. We like to do a lot of memorizing and if you switch around it's so very confusing. Yes, some of the exact wording of the questions isn't there we just talk about whatever our translation uses instead of the wording given. It does help when you are doing it with them.
Can you still buy NIV(1984) anywhere?

My husband orders NASB, it's what we both have. I always try to get the kids pretty or boyish bibles, but they never seem to come in NASB, lol. When DD's bible hasn't lined up, I usually pull mine out and more often than not, it works fine.

The NLT can have extremely different wording. We have one of those tooMumkins wrote: our NLT bible chose a different word.

I do think thought with CTC she would be fine. My dd is reading all of her Bible Readings in her NIrV for the Bible Box and it is going VERY well. But with R2R and RevtoRev, you are right. It might be easier to switch Bibles. The one nice thing about the Bible study in both R2R and RevtoRev is that they have actually printed the Bible verses in the back of the book that align with text. So your kids can use those if you don't like how your Bible lines up with these.
