If I had my daughter who would be a 12 year old 7th grader in Res. to Ref. next year, do I need to do a different science than what is listed? It has Apologia's Astronomy scheduled, but the Young Explorer series is only to 6th grade? I'm certainly not opposed to her doing a book labeled for 6th grade while she is in 7th (not super concerned about standard grade levels, nor has she done astronomy except in very small general terms), I just want to understand.

I think you are fine. She is on track for MTMM in 9th and that is when you'll want to make sure of credits.

Also remember that HOD doesn't just use the Apologia book. If that was all you were using, you would need to "beef it up." But with the other material, it is enough for 7th grade.

Also, that the APologia is listed K-6 because mom is reading aloud to the kids. In RTR the child is reading on their own, plus notebooking, reading other sources and doing science experiments.
