Will New Guide Resources be at Conventions?

Post by Tiffini » Tue Feb 10, 2015 12:35 pm

Carrie, I know how busy you are....but I was hoping you could pop on here to let us know if the resources for the new American History Guide will be available for browsing and purchasing at the conventions this year. I'm trying to decide if I need to go to the Cincinnati Convention. If you will have the new resources, then I definitely want to make the trip so I can decide what I need for my upcoming senior. I know the guide won't be written yet, but was hoping to see what resources you had planned to use. Praying for your stamina, health, and wisdom as always! :D

Tiffini,

This is a good question! I do have many of the American History resources selected already, but until we are completely sure of each book we won't be sharing those resources with customers as of yet. My first task is to finish the World History Guide. Once that is complete, we will turn our eyes toward sharing our resource picks for the American History Guide. :D

We do not plan to have the American History Guide resources at convention this year, however we will be sharing Sneak Peeks for these resources in late spring/early summer and be making packages available for families to purchase in the summer if they plan to journey with us through American History this coming fall. :D

To make this possible, I have had to research the American History Guide while writing the World History Guide. This means that the World History Guide is being written in real-time now, written just a couple weeks ahead of when the kiddos need it. So, our World History Guide will not be complete until mid-May and not ship in total guide form until the end of May. However, this also means that we are in very good shape for the upcoming American History Guide and are feeling great about the resource selections that have been made thus far! The selection of resources is such a time-intensive task that I didn't want to be pressed into making any quick decisions. So, spreading this task out and interspersing it with writing the World History Guide has worked well. :D

Hope this answers your questions!

Blessings,
Carrie

Wow, Carrie! I'm so happy that things are falling into place so well with planning this all out. What a massive undertaking! I cannot wait to hear what you have planned next, but I'll try to be patient... :)

I do have another question. I think I know the basics of what will be covered in the AH guide - American History, Math, Foreign Language, NT Bible, Chemistry. I was wondering what electives will be scheduled - is it Government only? And also do you think English will be the same with Lit being full length novels and using the next year of the same writing program? I'm trying to figure out if we should do some dual credit next year and it would help to better know what is planned in the next guide. If you can't answer this yet, that is no problem - but it can't hurt to ask, right? :D

I have so loved these first two years of HOD high school and can't imagine doing it any other way. I feel truly blessed to have found HOD and that the Lord has called you and enabled you to write for high school. Thank you!!
