Beyond artistic expression

Post by kidsforHim » Tue Feb 03, 2015 9:31 am

Unit 7 Day 5 had me drawing the outline of my daughter's hair, face, and shirt. Then, she was to draw in her eyes, nose, mouth, and hair. Noses are HARD to draw!! This acitivity inspired DD to do a paper doll of herself, with mom doing the outlining-she insisted! She has been drawing and coloring clothes for it. I just thought it was neat of her to do this and she got the idea after doing Beyond.

You are making me long for a little more 'pink' in my house! What a fun extension your dd has thought of for her Beyond art activity! My sons often extend activities too, but more along the lines of building catapults, re-enacting battles, or having sword fights. :D It sounds like your little gal is thriving - way to go MOM! :D

AAAAAAAAWWWWWWW!

Yup, yup. I am so looking forward to the art with my daughter! She loves to draw and color and paint. My son just does the least amount of drawing he can do. Like Julie said, they tend to like the reenacting and building. He had so much fun reenacting the scene of the flatboat going down... The Ohio? River, coming around the bend with the native american camp and them coming out on their canoes. Didnt one of the oarsmen get struck with an arrow? I think this was in Beyond. We had to do it SEVERAL TIMES. We used a flashlight for the campfire light and had real Indian figurines. Good times! But I am looking forsard to the ART with Little Miss 'cause I know it is going to be AMAZING! The lil' man asks "what is the point of this..?" whenever we do art. LOL. I do not think he means to be rude; he just doesn't GET art. He was totally confused about the crayon rubbings of footprints we just did to remember Washington's march through the snow. LOL. Too bad there wasn't really snow outside... He could have tried walking barefoot and seeing how unbearable THAT was! Then again, he would "be tough" and say it wasn't so bad. Heh. boys. ;)

kidsforhim - You got your gal, after all! :D She'll have lots of big brothers to love on her and protect her someday - what a blessing! :D I wonder if I could even mother a little gal anymore. Too many boys in this house for too long! That, and I have the Austin boys over all the time, which makes 7 boys under 1 roof. A little gal... I fear she may get lost in the midst of all those boys. When my sister comes from TX, she brings her gals though (7 dc, 4 girls and 3 boys), and we love on them. :D

raindrops - I remember that Beyond activity with the flatboat very well because Emmett reenacted it over and over and over again! He had his stuffed Beanie Balz Speedy at the helm steering. What fun! :D
