Skip a guide?

My 6th grade son is currently working through CTC and as I look to plan out his future schedule I would need to have him skip a guide in order to reach the World Geography guide by 9th grade. What do you recommend? We have been using HOD since Bigger and we love it!

Lots of people use MTMM for 9th grade. There are threads about what to add to beef it up a little. So you really don't have to skip a guide. If you really just want to follow the guides as written without beefing up then yes you would have to skip one. I would wait until you are getting ready for 9th grade and see where he places on the placement chart and if he places in the WG guide then you could skip MTMM. Just keep in mind it is a pretty big jump from MTMM to WG guide so it will be a bigger jump from Rev to Rev to the WG guide.

It's much better to have them do the guide in which they place. Don't worry about the "grade" on the book.

I agree with Gwenny. When your son gets to 9th grade, I would check the placement chart. If he places in MTMM, then I would have him use that guide (beefed up) for 9th grade. But if he places in the WG guide, then I would skip MTMM.

Thank you for the feedback. I guess I was just worried about how to assign credits for HS if we use MTMM for ninth grade but I'm sure I can figure that part out.

There are already helps on the board for how to use MTMM for 9th grade, and by the time your ds reaches 9th grade, I anticipate there to be many more! I think you've come to a good conclusion here, and I just want to share that HOD has been wonderful for high school! I think you and your ds will enjoy it as much as my son and I have!
