This year I have 6 kids in school. My oldest two are girls and they are using MTMM for 8th and 10th grade. They are having such a fun year. They love working together and are learning so much and so am I.

My next two are boys and they are using Preparing. They are in 4th and 6th. This guide is also going really well.
My question is with my next two little guys. They are in K and 2nd. I am using MFWK with my K and Beyond with my 2nd grader. Will I ever be able to combine these two into one guide?
Thank you for your help, Heidi

If you stick with HOD, it will be difficult. Normally you place the younger and beef up for the older. But you already have the older on a guide that is probably a great fit. So you would either have to repeat that guide again next year or drop down to LHFHG. Or you could do something else with the older one for a year. But, as long as the older one keeps going through HOD guides in order, one a year, combining won't be possible.

You could always do little hearts next year and then repeat beyond. Your schedule would look like this:
Little Hearts (1st and 3rd)
Beyond (2nd and 4th)
Bigger (3rd and 5th)
Preparing (4th and 6th) and so on and so forth.
So your 2nd grader would repeat Beyond in 4th grade. And by the time that child is doing Bigger, you would just add in extensions for that child and complete the extension activities. And then your school year combination schedule would end up mimicking your 4th and 6th graders now.

How is your Beyond child doing? Is Beyond a solid placement? Do you foresee Bigger Hearts being a solid placement next year? If you stopped what you are doing with the 2 of them separately now, you could probably combine them now and place them both in LHFHG, keeping your 2nd grader doing LA/math from Beyond Little Hearts. Otherwise, if Beyond is a solid placement now for your 2nd grader, and you foresee Bigger Hearts being a solid placement next year, then I'd keep that child moving forward and combine the 3 and 5 yo dc instead, as it appears they are combined in FIAR now anyway. What do you think?

He is really solid in Beyond. It really is a great fit. It stretches him in some areas but not to the point of frustration. I think we will just continue on and see how it goes.

I think this is a good plan! I cannot tell you how many plans I have made and remade over the past dozen years. It's so hard to foresee how much a child will mature and grow in skills. Since Beyond is a good fit, you may as well keep enjoying it.
