Question about order of science in Bigger

Because we had already done part of Bigger, when I decided to put my daughter back into this guide, I had plans to redo all history, but skip certain parts of the science. My plan is to skip the Seashore book and the John Audubon book, simply because this is an area in which my daughter is pretty strong, so I do not want to make her repeat it. I was wondering if it would interrupt the flow of the guide to begin the guide with Science in Colonial America, or should I do something else to fill the gaps and keep the science with the assigned units? I don't have a problem waiting, but was thinking through my options. Maybe getting some library books on topic to supplement would be another option.

If you want the cohesiveness of the science often corresponding with the history, and the balance of activities so that when the rotating box is more involved is on days that the science box is less involved, etc then you would want to just supplement with other books during the books that you are cutting out and then stick with the days as they are written in the guide. You'll end up adding something in anyway as your science would not have as many days as the rest of your plans. It seems easier to me to just add something in when the guide says you're on the books that you wanted to skip, and use the guide as-is for the books that you are going to do.
For example, unlike Preparing, in Bigger the science experiment is not always on the same day of the week. These are much longer science lessons than the "read X pages and have your child narrate." Notebooking is longer also. I would suggest sticking to each book when it's scheduled in the guide.

Melissa - Thanks. Sometimes after I ask questions, I come to conclusions before I get a response. I was thinking about doing exactly what you recommended.

I figured it would make more sense to keep the books where scheduled. I think I will find some library books to go along with the topics and do some of the activities in the guide, so we'll be working on the same stuff, just using different books.
