Skipping english 3?

Hi , all! My ds used english 2 about two yrs ago. Due to life circumstances, we stopped doing all of HOD and he really wasn't doing any formal grammar for probably a year. Recently, he began doing some grammar work in a textbook/workbook we got from Costco. But my ds is now 6th/7th grade/12 yrs old. So I feel the need to catch him up. Was thinking of skipping ahead to English 4 (English 5 might be too difficult?) Is it ok to skip English 3? I know if it was math, it would be probably almost impossible to skip a whole yr without working on those skills elsewhere.. Anyone else been in a situation similar? TIA...

In my opinion, you can definitely skip level 3. You can find online samples and see if level 4 or level 5 would be a good fit. I don't think you would want to jump in above level 5.

I have a ds that successfully went from R&S English 2 to 4 (never did 3). It worked out just fine.

My DS (12) started English 4 last year to prepare for starting HOD this year without ever done any R&S before (or any formal grammar at all!). The main challenge is his disliking anything that resembles work,
but he's definitely capable of this level.
Your son should be fine.
Blessings,

I agree with the ladies' wise advice!
My oldest son began Rod and Staff at English 4. He had never done the previous levels of Rod and Staff English, and it was a good fit for him at the time! We had dabbled in a variety of other English options through the years, as he was my poor first-born child.
This was before we had our HOD guides written for his level.
He was in 5th grade when he began Rod and Staff English 4, and he graduated last May after completing English 8. He does extremely well in language arts and I attribute much of it to his years of Rod and Staff. So, you aren't too late!
Blessings,
Carrie

Thanks so very much ladies!
Since my son will be doing CTC, I guess I should just have him do English 4 daily so that he doesn't take 2 yrs to complete it and can begin 5 next year. Thx again!
