Fun moment with Beyond:)

Post by bethelmommy » Thu Aug 21, 2014 4:50 pm

We are in the last few weeks of Beyond and read about Kodiak Brown Bears today. I was reading aloud from the science book and it asked if the child could find Kodiak on a map. Oldest ds ran to the map on our wall and pointed it out right away and exclaimed, "Mom, that is so easy. Of course we know where we live! So fun to get to read in Beyond science about what literally roams in our backyard :D !

What a cute story! Of course the thought of having Kodiak Brown Bears in my backyard is more than I can imagine. The wildest thing we get is a squirrel or a rabbit.

I admit I am sometimes hesitant to let my kids play in the yard if I can't be right nearby to supervise. Usually the current neighborhood bear comes through the yard at night and tends to stay away during the day, except when our berry bushes are ripe -like now :) .

   That is too cute! We had a similar experience when reading about Mount Rushmore here in SD. :) I have to say I prefer Mount Rushmore somewhat in my backyard than bears! My boys would probably prefer the adventure of the bears though.
