I am a new HODie. I recently learned about the Teaching Character Through Literature Study Guide from Beautiful Feet Books. Has anyone used this guide for primary grades? Does Beyond include character training?

Thank you in advance for any advice.

Beyond has character traits discussed through the Morning Bells devotional scheduled to go along with the Bible study portion of the plans. The Scripture memory also falls more under character training.

Within the Storytime box, Godly character traits are also addressed once each week, in a way that relates to what you're reading aloud.

Once you get to Bigger, a different Godly character quality is studied each week. Kiddos also memorize accompanying Proverbs and read addtional Bible passages on the trait. Preparing hits character through a study of the Psalms. :D

Blessings,
Carrie

Not to hijack the thread, but I'm so glad to know all of that! I've already decided we're sticking with HOD for the long haul, but all of the character studies are just one more reason to stay with HOD. The character traits mentioned in LHFHG through the stories were definitely an added bonus I wasn't expecting, so I'm really glad to know that this continues throughout the various levels! :D

I just wanted to jump in and say that I LOVE the character study stuff in DITHOR. It's so wonderful to take the character in the book, even the bad guys! And talk aobut what makes them tick. :-) It makes it sink into their brain without ANY "preaching" from mom!!! That's worth a lot, IMO!! :-)
