Is this Dispensational it it's leanings?

Have you looked at the Table of Contents? That might help you decide if its right for you. The book is pretty basic, and doesn't have much actual doctrine. More of a history of the Bible and how to read the Bible.

The only bit that I see that can be classified as dispensational is when the author gives a one paragraph summary of each book of the Bible. His summary of Revelation would probably be considered dispensational. It reads as follows: "The word 'revelation' means unveiling, so don't be afraid to read a book that will reveal or unveil something! Chapter 1 presents a picture of the risen and exalted Christ. Chapters 2 and 3 relate messages to seven churches in Asia Minor in John's day. Chapters 4, 5 picture the throne of God in heaven. Chapters 6-19 describe the coming tribulation period with its terrible judgments on the people on earth. Chapter 19 depicts the second coming of Christ. The reign of Christ on the earth for 1,000 years is the subject of chapter 20, the new heavens and new earth are described in chapters 21 and 22. Much of the book is quite plain, so go ahead and read it!"

This is the only portion that I saw that could be said to be dispensational, but then again, I'm not really on the lookout for that. I imagine you could use this as a discussion opportunity, if you don't believe this way, to talk about that with your kids, telling them what you do believe and why.

I read the book, wanting to know what it was about, and felt it was really more of an outline as well. Finer points of doctrine are not really introduced and it's not theological in its purpose, it's more of the background of the Bible, historical context, what each book is about, etc. I highly recommend you read it for yourself though and find out! I am trying to pre-read all of the books my daughter will be reading on her own so I know as much as possible about them (though I have failed in this somewhat).
