What kind of dictionary to use for Preparing?

Post by Motherjoy » Thu Jul 03, 2008 4:13 am

We have a college level dictionary, but I'm thinking that the type is too small and it is too intense for my almost 10yo. Could someone give suggestions for a good dictionary to use with a 10yo?

Our favorite has been the Webster's Elementary dictionary. It has larger type and interesting illustrations than most out there.

Once my kiddos hit the 11-12yo mark, I'll probably switch them to the American Heritage Student Dictionary, as it's more comprehensive for the older crowd.

You may actually need the college level dictionary for some of the words in Preparing. So, you'll probably want that one on hand as well. :D

Blessings,
