How much time would it add per day for Jayden to do both options of science? She hasn't done the first option in the extensions, but she really wants to do the weather study. I think both would be beneficial, but not to the extent of adding an hour or more per day.

It isn't for the whole year... Only the last 8-10 weeks, maybe (I don't have my guide handy, so I didn't look it up).

I'd be more inclined to have her do the weather study over the summer if she has the interest.

We don't have a summer ;) We school year round. I was just wondering how long I suppose the science is supposed to take... but if it's just the last 8-10 weeks, then she should have no trouble doing both!

I think the science box typically took my dc around 30 minutes each day and we did option #1. I'm not for sure when that book would be scheduled but if it is the same time as Exploring Planet Earth then I think it would definitely be doable without being overwhelming. The follow-ups with Exploring Planet Earth take more of the format of answering the questions at the end of the chapter which for my dc took less time than the other types of follow-ups. Our days were still really full but if you don't mind an additional 30 minutes or so each day, it could probably be added in or you could always add it in on your 5th day each week :D .

We don't have a 5th day either ;) But yeah if it's at the end of the guide and only takes 30 or so minutes then I'm just going to have her do both. It'll be a nice easy transition to the next guide's amount of work and she will enjoy both.

We did the AIG weather book instead of the Apologia Astronomy since he had already done that. Just know it is more textbook like than a typical HOD science book. My ds thought it was just ok. It is more worksheet based.
