Using DITHOR in Preparing

Hello,
In Preparing, DITHOR is used 3x/week, right? So if I'm not mistaken, the kids read for a total of 15 days and only do an activity 3days per unit? Or are they only reading the book on DITHOR days? How does DITHOR work in Preparing?
Thanks

DITHOR is scheduled in the guide 3 days per week. So you do not do it on the 4th day. There are 15 days of reading and accompanying activities and then 5 days of a project for each genre so each genre takes 20 days to complete. This would be 20 days of DITHOR as you don't do anything with it on that other day. So 6 2/3 weeks if you do one unit each week. You get 4 1/2 genres done during Preparing, and it is intended for DITHOR to take 2 years to do once you get to Preparing.

I am still confused

If I am "reading" a new genre every 20 days, Im coming up with 7 genres for the school year. 35x4 =140 divided by 20 =7. Please help my brain ladies. FYI, Im primarily a visual person.
Thanks

You only do DITHOR 3 days a week. Meaning, no reading or activity that 4th day (well actually it's day 2). So 34X3 = 102 days of DITHOR I guess that is more like 5 genres completed.
Preparing is only 4 days of school each week. 3 of them you will do DITHOR and the other you will not.

Ohhhhhhhhhh! I get it now! Thank you for taking time to answer. I thought that we would be reading regardless of the day even if we were not doing an activity. You know just straight 15 days of reading. Got it got it!
Thanks

Ok one more thing. Do the kids finish the whole book for each genre if they're reading 3x/week?

Yes, for whichever books you choose for them to read you divide up the pages into 5 days, 10 days, or 15 days of reading. Obviously if you think it will take 15 days they just read one book for that genre. If 5 or 10 you need to have more than one book to fill up the 15 days of reading. It is important to have 5, 10, or 15 days because of the way the activities are written, some are kind of looking ahead into a new book and some are answering questions from earlier in the book so it would not work well if you had started a different book.
