Science question

Post by snadig » Sat May 17, 2014 10:02 am

My dd is just finishing up MTMM. It become pretty easy for her around week 18, but just have wanted to finish out. I did add in the Chemistry DVDs (she just watched them but really liked it) would you still do the IPC science in the next guide or is it going to be to much review?

We are praying about weather to jump to the WH guide or not. She really wants to do both. My other thought is if we get the the WG guide and it is too easy we could just stop and move her up. Just trying talk this out. Any ideas would be great.
Thanks,
Stacey

Was she high school this year? High school is different than younger grades b/c you are looking for credits. The level of difficulty is all going to pretty much be the same for things like history/science/religion....math and language arts will still increase, but history and science is more about high school level worthiness and getting the right credits to graduate. I would look up your requirements for credits and go from there.
If science is your dd's strength, you can always sub out a different science. ;) I have a dd who is math and science oriented so she is doing a different science and math sequence with Rev2Rev as she was ready for high school level in both those subjects.

Was your daughter a freshman this year? If so, I would just do the WG next year, If you are wanting to do the Biology, you could go ahead and buy the WH guide. HOD will still let you get the package price for WH the next year minus the guide price. Another option would be to do the new World History guide next year (as long as you thought the literature and writing placements were good) and the 1st half of American history and government guide the next year (I think that is what HOD is planning.) Then you would skip the last guide as it is the same period that you did this year. Instead you would do the WG guide (history, Bible, worldview) her senior year and add your own math, Eng. and science since she would be at a higher level. This is actually what our daughter will do her senior year due to combining scenarios).

We just completed the WG guide and had an awesome year! :D The IPC science is a challenge. It is definitely high school level. The science readings were very narrative, and the kit was all-inclusive, with clear directions, solid assessments, and ample higher level labs. Will your dd be doing 9th or 10th grade this coming school year?
