Two Different Ext. Packages for Preparing?

I’m still figuring things out but I have a question about Preparing Hearts.
For Preparing, are there any books from the Self-Study Deluxe History Package: For the Newly Independent Reader scheduled in the guide that I would need? If we use Preparing we would need the Self-Study Extension Package for Older Students, not the other one. However, it looks like the first week schedules a book from the package for younger kids that my child would like (Draw and Write Through History). I don’t want to buy both extension packages but will consider adding some of the books from the younger pack if it is hands-on like Draw and Write Through History.

Thanks!

The Self-Study books are for the Independent History box in Preparing. If you child is using extensions, it is on top of that unless you want to skip that box in the guide. Normally, you buy the self study books and the extension books.

Just to be sure I understand, the Self Study for the Newly Independent Reader package is scheduled in the Independent History box. The Self Study for Older Students is separate and is scheduled somewhere else in the guide? If so, are there assignments to go along with them or is it just independent reading?

Thanks!

The extensions are scheduled in the appendix of the guides. I think they include instructions for narrations - written and oral. I think there might be other activities as well, but mostly it is narration I think.

Thanks :-).

What kind of activities are in the Independent History box? Is it possible to use the extension books for older kids instead of the books for newly independent readers for that box?

I wouldn't skip the independent history box, even if you are doing extensions. It's a fun and important box. It's says for newly independent readers because some doing Preparing aren't ready for all of the reading in the guide on their own-but this box they for sure need to do on their own.

You would definitely do the independent history that is scheduled in the guide.

The extension books, for older students, are for completing the guide as is and then adding them on top of what's in the guide. So everything from the boxes you see in the first week of plans would be what you'd need to order... then add in the extension books as well.
