My kids spent some time the other day with a family that is not Christian but one that I know well. I was not there and honestly I did not set it up, dh did. But I really thought it was OK since we were close by and most of the time just across the street. Anyway the son apparently plays some video games (we don't as a rule) and he asked my son if he wanted to play some kind of fighting semi violent game. My son said that he did not think it was cool to play those games and that he really wasn't interested because it went against his faith. Remember he does not get these kind of things at home and this family has way more bells and whistles in the way of toys, so this would have been his chance.

I want to tell you in all honesty I know some of this discernment comes from us teaching directly from the Word. But I really think the way Bigger has helped him to think about character and seeing consequences of action has really been a huge help for my son. The connection to scripture and then to history in terms of something tangible that he knows is real has really helped. He is not what I would call a complacent child. He is not really a pleaser and he is a huge skeptic and questioner in general, so this is definitely learned. Bigger has been wonderful for my kids but especially for my one who needed help in this area the most.

Once again I am so thankful to have HOD to educate and disciple my children. The concepts are so in line with the Word and put together so well that my only focus using HOD is taking what is there and applying it personally to them. It has been a huge blessing to have that be my only focus. We LOVE HOD, however you say it  we love it! :D I know you all know that but just had to say it again!

ETA-Disclaimer, no Bigger does not teach directly about what we do not allow our son to do. Just wanted to hedge that one off  but the biblical concepts are easily applied to our family's values and we find that all the time with all the HOD we use. :D

I have to agree. We've had some awesome discussions due to the Bible Verses and the character training that interacts with the curriculum. It's age appropriate in addition to not being overbearing with the length of the verses so my dd doesn't drift off. We've never had this before ... had such great discussions.

Thanks Carrie! Thanks for creating a program that is finally age appropriate. Let kids be kids.

water2wine,

What a wonderful testimony for your son to stand up for his faith in that situation. That is what we pray for with our own kiddos - moral discernment.

I'm so glad that Bigger is helping you train your children to think Biblically in those situations! As moms we need to hide these moments in our heart to show us that our kiddos ARE progressing in their Christian walk. :D

Blessings,
Carrie

That is exactly what we want our dc to do! Water2wine, you can be so proud of your ds. I agree that Bigger... helped my ds to put his faith more into motion on a daily basis too. Good job, Mom! :D :D :D :D :D

In Christ,
Julie
