Another question about the Medieval Lessons. I am having my daughter do Igniting Your Writing with CtC because she needs an "easier" writing program. I wonder if I should do a different writing for her in RtR if she hasn't done the WWTB 1? Igniting Your Writing II?

My daughter didn't have any formal writing program until Medieval. She's an old 7th grader (13 years before she began her year). Anyway, I think she's done a pretty good job of it. I have the teacher's guide and referred to it a few times. I think IEW is a pretty full course and if she struggles with or dislikes writing, then maybe you go a little slower than the manual suggests or do something a little easier. I think it's pretty intense. I don't recall doing anything like this in high school or middle school!

I also wanted to say that it teaches really great concepts and you don't want her to miss out on that. My son is in RtR doing Igniting your Writing and NOT IEW. So next year, instead of creative writing, I'm going to have him go through IEW because it covers topics you don't want to miss out on.

IEW is usually a good fit for the struggling writer. It is very formulaic and step by step and tells them exactly what they need to put where. It probably would work well for her and really help her writing.

Thanks so much for that! I will get that one then. And I guess I'll get the teacher guide as well. Just being cheap and didn't want to get it if it would just sit on the shelf.

Also in the medieval writing lessons there are suggestions for the level a student. You could follow those instead of the level b suggestions.
