Using WG if we've just completed Mapping the World/Art
Using WG if we've just completed Mapping the World/Art
Hypothetically, if a ninth grader had just completed Mapping the World Through Art in 8th grade, how would we proceed with the World Geography Guide? Would it be possible to do the guide and just skip the MWTA assignments, or would we need to substitute some other resource, OR- should I make the resistant student repeat the course? I guess what I am asking is: Would the WG course work without MWTA? Or would it fall apart?

You could skip the Mapping with Art assignments and the course would not fall apart, but if it were me I would still use them at least in some part. Some of the readings are used in weekly written narrations. The extra activities in the back are assigned as a hands-on component, and the regular mapping activities go with where in the world the geography study has focused for the week.SnowWhite wrote:Hypothetically, if a ninth grader had just completed Mapping the World Through Art in 8th grade, how would we proceed with the World Geography Guide? I would have my student refer to the maps he/she already made when they come up. I also recommend the free download Seterra. You could practice whatever area of the world you were working on.

My oldest is using World Geography this year and is really enjoying it. There is so much more to it than just the mapping with art book. If it were me , I would have the student complete all the readings scheduled from the book, draw the maps (or practice drawing the area from memory), and let the actives become optional ( if the student had completed the activity previously).
