Science question…...

Post by quiverfull » Tue Mar 18, 2014 1:42 pm

Hi,

I apologize if this has already been answered somewhere. My 9th grader will be doing Rev to Rev. and I don't know what to do about her science. She is in Module 11 of the Apologia Physical Science (with no labs) book this year (8th grade). I was going to use that for a high school credit. I see that the science scheduled in the Rev. to Rev. guide is physical science. So I guess my question is, what should I do for her 9th grade science? She will not be going into any science major or anything. I just need to fulfill science credits for her. I'm tempted to have her complete it anyway, just so she can do the experiments. But would that be overkill? Also, how long would you say an average student would spend on this each day?

Thanks so much! :)

Physical science is a LARGE area of science, with lots of topics. If it very possible what you have covered is different than what is going to be covered by HOD. But the question you need to ask is what you plan on doing for science after 9th grade and what your state requires. If you do 1 guide a year, you will have:
Rev to Rev - Physical Science
MtMM - Chemistry?
World Geography - Physical Science? 1/2 Credit Physics and 1/2 Credit Chemistry?
World History - Biology?
Mom to
DD16 (completed LHFHG-WH, parts of US1 and 2)
DS14 WG (completed LHFHG-MtMM plus some of LHTH)
DD13 MtMM (completed Rev2Rev)
DS8 Bigger (completed LHTH-Beyond)

stephanieU,

That's what I don't know. I mean wouldn't it look weird to have another 1/2 credit each of physical science and chemistry? And would the science in Rev. to Rev and MtMM be worthy of a whole credit? What would you suggest?
