My oldest dd13 will be testing at the public school this week. On Tuesday, she will test at the local middle school. This was the easiest way for her to get the required testing for our home study requirements as this is a pass/fail year for testing in our state for her grade level. I am nervous and anxious, but not about how she will test. She hasn't been to public school since she was 3rd grade. I am sure a day at the middle school will be very different for her. We bought uniform color clothing today so she won't stand out. They said she didn't have to have uniform clothing but if she had khakis and those colored shirts on it would make her stand out less. On the plus side, she does have a friend from AHG (American Heritage Girls) that is going to meet her at the office and hopefully they will be testing together (really close last name letters).
This week it is 1 day for the writing portion and math written response part of the test. In April, it will be a whole week for all the other parts of the test. Wish us luck. I think we are both anxious for very different reasons.

I will pray for you and your dd. God is SO great and HOD is also great. I am sure if you know in your heart your dd is prepared, then she is prepared. And God is worker of miracles. And depending on your dd, if she is pretty social and doesn't mind strangers, then she should also be fine. But I will be happy to pray for you and her.

I think you are wise to make sure she didn't feel like she stuck out and to include a friend in the transition. I prayed for you DD, but I have no doubt she will do great! Thank you for giving us the opportunity to pray for her.

Well, I just dropped her off. It was so surreal driving to the school. We haven't made that trip in 5 years. She seemed upbeat and met her friend in front of the office. Now I just have to wait for her to call me telling me the test is over.

I have prayed for you and your dd! I can understand feeling anxious about this, but you did such a good job of looking out for her by having a friend meet her and by considering her attire.

I bet she'll be fine, but prayer is the best support!!!

Everything went well. She had a fun time for it to be testing. She didn't get some of the rules (like it was freezing in the classroom but her windbreaker had pockets so she had to leave it in the hallway) and she said the bathrooms were disgusting. They said they would be done by lunch and I started getting anxious as 11:00 went by, then 12:00 went by and around 12:45 I was starting to look up online what time the school let out for the day. School gets out at 2:20. She called at 1:00. I asked her if the test was hard and if it took her longer than they thought and she said all the kids in all the testing classrooms couldn't go to lunch until the last 8th grader was through with the test. It is not a timed test so it was a very long day for them. She said they got a 10 minute break and they fed them gummies so they weren't starving. lol. So glad I fed her breakfast this morning. She said testing went well and there was a boy from the Catholic school where the boys do scouts that was testing in the same room. So she wasn't the only "non" student testing in her room.
I will definitely remember to do big breakfasts the first week in April when she will take the rest of the tests that aren't essay style.
