I thought I posted this question this morning but I can't find the thread so maybe I forgot to submit it. Anyway here is the situation.
My 3.5 year old son seems to be better suited to the little hearts for his glory curriculum. He can sit relatively still for 90 minutes at a time. He began reading a few months ago, he is very articulate and speaks well with correct grammar, he counts well and is learning basic math concepts using manipulatives such as addition. He can't write yet. He can draw a line and circle/oval but I haven't worked on handwriting or letter formation with him yet. He could use more practice with motor skills but with extra focus in that area I'm sure he will progress nicely.
He needs a slight challenge but he gets frustrated when things are too hard. I know he will be bored with the 2-5 year old curriculum because it doesn't seem like it would be challenging to him at all. I don't want to waste money on something that won't teach him anything. I really want to try the 5-7 year old curriculum, other than the writing I think this is the level he is at. Will it be too hard for him since he doesnt know how to write letters or numbers yet? Is it a lot of writing or can we gradually work into that? Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions? Advice and input would be very much appreciated. Thank you.

Re: Help with Placement
IMHO, 3.5 seems really young to begin Little Hearts. Even if he's reading, I wouldn't start it until he's at least 4.5. Learning in the early years doesn't necessarily need to be challenging. I would try the Little Hands to Heaven or another early learning curriculum. Find something where you can focus more on bible stories and science. Do some units where you are learning about space, plants, the ocean, different kinds of animals, etc.. Read lots of books from the library, play games that incorporate math skills like counting, etc.

I responded on your other thread (just a little further down in threads),
But I will add to this that 3.5 is a bit too young for Little Hearts. Some are issues of maturity. It is written with an advanced 5 yo in mind.
I have my 4 yo in LHTH w/ a few additions. This child is very mature.
By the time he is 4.5, since he is advanced he would probably be ready for LHFHG.
I have not seen it work before they are several months into their 4th year.
