Substitute for Burgess Books

We love the Burgess books this year in LHFHG, but my older kids will be moving up to BLHFHG next year and my daughter will be doing LHFHG. She has been sitting in on story time so the Burgess books will be repetitive for her. I like the short chapters and the fact they are a series. Does anyone have any recommendations for a similar short chapter series we could use? Thanks for your help!

How about the Burgess books that aren't scheduled in HOD? There are more than the ones HOD covers, so those would be good if the kids like the stories. You can find them on Amazon, etc.

You can get a lot of the other Burgess books for free on an e-reader too as they are public domain.

How old is the one who will be doing LHFHG next year? Because I would bet, with a whole year in between, she will not be able to remember the books all that well and the repetition will not be a problem. At least you could try it and see how it goes, if it seems like she is really remembering the stories then switch to some other Burgess stories. As the others said, there are a lot of them!

I would do some of the non-scheduled Burgess books with the guide activities. After you've just done them for a year, you should have a pretty good idea of how to extend those to different Burgess titles. I think we've done this every time I've taught LHFHG b/c I've always read more in a day than I'm "supposed" to.

Thank you everyone, I had no idea there were so many Burgess books! We will use other Burgess books and use the same format Carrie uses for discussions, etc. Thanks again!
