Resources for Beyond

Post by Mamamindy » Thu Jan 23, 2014 4:35 pm

I am getting ready to start Beyond. I just ordered the guide & I am wondering what resources from the Economy package and the Basic package are necessary for about the first 10 weeks of lesson plans. Money is tight and I would like to buy some books now and some books later if I can. If anybody has the guide and could let me know I would be very grateful. :D

For history:
American Pioneers and Patriots (Units 1 and 2)
Stories of the Pilgrims (Units 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10)
Boys and Girls of Colonial Days (Unit 5)
Plus the Bible about once a week
So all of the economy package items are used in the first 10 weeks/units.

As for the things in the basic package, you can get away without them and still have the guide work. But, they are nice to have. I would say the math is of course the most important in that set. Then probably the devotional, then the science and music. They are also used almost every week.

That helps a lot! Thank you :D I think I will just start with the Economy books for now. We already have a math program and it seems that I can get by without the other Basic books for now.

You got good responses already, just wanted to add that you will be able to do the science activities without the book. The book just adds an extra connection, but the activities themselves are in the Beyond guide so that should be covered.
