M2MM... Atoms in the Family...

Today was my daughter's first day in the book. While she did like it, she was discouraged with how much time it took for her to read the assigned pages (about 45 minutes). Does this seem reasonable to others who have children who've been through this? Was the first day's reading uncharacteristically long, or is it the norm? She is typically a strong reader, though she can get distracted and sometimes dawdle.

My ds is not a strong reader and I haven't timed it exactly, but I think it is taking him around 30-35 minutes to read this book. It is a challenging, adult level book. My ds doesn't love how long it takes either, but what I have told him is what Carrie told me and that is this book is preparing him for the amount of reading and the level of books in the high school guides.

Typically it took Wyatt an average of about half an hour or so, but I do remember "Atoms in the Family" was a little longer. I told Wyatt he could split it up between morning and night if he wanted, but he ended up being so engaged in it I think he only did that at the start a few times. Like Lynn shared - excellent training for high school. HTH!

Thanks!
I haven't heard any more complaints since the first day.
