Placement questions and high school credits question MTMM
I am planning to put both my girls into MTMM come January. We are coming from a charter school. My dd13 was taking all 9th grade courses except state history. She is the one that I have credits questions about with regards to MTMM and the credits she had received this year. She was taking state history, earth science (high school level), Literary Analysis and Composition 1, Algebra 1, German 1, and Finding Your Path (college readiness class), and PE. So she would have had 6 high school credits at the end of the year. Right now, she has a 1/2 credit each for Earth Science, Literary Analysis and Composition 1, Algebra 1, German 1, Finding your Path, and PE. I debated about placing her in WG, but would really like her to master note-taking and outlining and a few other skills from MTMM as well as felt I could level the .5 credits better with MTMM. She did take the 1st half of American History last year with our charter and received an A so I am thinking with MTMM, I could give her 1 credit for American History. We will probably not use the MTMM science and finish her other .5 credit for Earth Science. I feel that R&S English, WWTB2, and DITHOR will allow me to give her the other .5 credit for Literary Analysis and Composition 1. We are finishing the Algebra 1 text that she was using and she will take the EOC test at the local high school to get her Algebra 1 full credit. Still working on a plan for German. I am not stressing Finding Your Path and PE as I believe they were 1/2 credits for the course and 2nd semester was to be Health and an elective of your choice. She will be taking Drama, Military History, and Knitting at co-op beginning in January so I am thinking of giving 1/2 credit to drama based on hours. We can give credits for religion on our transcripts and I was thinking that I would give her 1 credit for Biblical Worldview for MTMM. So she would have 1 credit American History, 1 credit Earth Science, 1 credit Algebra 1, 1 credit Literary Analysis and Composition 1, .5 credit Finding Your Path, .5 credit PE, .5 credit German 1, .5 credit drama, and 1 credit Biblical Worldview. This would give her 7 credits for her "freshman" year. In our state 5 credits are required to be considered a sophomore. She is my first one to make it to high school and I feel like I am a little out of my depth. I could just put her in WG but felt this was a better plan since she had the 1/2 credits already and then next year we would use WG for 10th grade. Does this sound ok? Thanks in advance.

Re: Placement questions and high school credits question MTM
I just wanted you to know that I just read this and am pondering it!
It is late here though, and I've never done my best thinking at night.
I will ponder this and get back with you when I'm fresher and more able to give sound advice!!!

Re: Placement questions and high school credits question MTM
Thanks. I can't wait to hear your thoughts. I did make another post that is probably more confusing than this one.
lol. Anyway, I did figure out Free Enterprise. I am going to use 2 books that Christian Liberty Press uses in 9th grade for Free Enterprise and line them up when the Penny Candy and other economic book in MTMM is used. I found German as well from Christian Liberty Press for both German 1 and German 2. Her Literary Analysis and Comp 1 class was advanced and gifted so I tried to figure out a way to do something similar to WG's setup without using the exact books. I came up with using Abeka's 9th grade Literature text alongside CLP's App. of Grammar 3 and the novels-Adventures of Tom Sawyer, The Wind in the Willows, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass, and Little Women.
The first time I looked at the HOD High School scope and sequence I missed that Health is covered in the guide after WG. So I don't have to worry about it now.
Yay!
I also realized that since she wants to go a medical science track (she wants to go into veterinary science) that she would need a very different science path-Biology, AP Chemistry, AP Physics, and Biology 2 or AP Biology-Human Body so we are not worrying about the other half of earth science right now.
So with my new finds this is what I have come up with for 9th grade using MTMM.
Religion 1-Biblical Worldview 1 credit
English 1 (Literary Analysis and Compostion 1)-1 credit (1/2 credit already received)
Algebra 1-1 credit (1/2 credit already received)
American History-1 credit
Free Enterprise-1/2 credit
Foreign Language-German 1-1 credit (1/2 credit already received)
PE and Health- PE 1 credit (need 1 1/2 credits here for high school 1 for PE and 1/2 for Health)(1/2 credit PE already received)
Art-Theater Art-1/2 credit (from drama class in co-op...need 1 credit in music, art, dance, or theater here for high school)
Finding your path-1/2 credit (already received)
Biology 1-1 credit
Earth Science 1/2 credit (already received)
I have to turn in a plan in a couple of weeks for 9th grade and an individualized graduation plan as well (a little wiggle room here as I can edit it yearly). She had already completed an IGP with our charter and I am trying to keep her goals in mind and the path that was outlined for her to attain those goals while figuring out how to finish her high school.
Thanks for any help.
