Science for CTC need some ideas

Hello wonderful ladies!
My daughter is doing CTC right now. She really likes the book, Land animals of the Sixth Day, but would really like to be doing some more experiments than what is in the guide. She is on the older end of the guide (13) she thinks the experiments are not very exciting. She has also seen her sister doing RevtoRev science and now MTMM science.
I was thinking of just ordering the Biology 101 DVD. If you all have some ideas let me know.
Thanks,
Stacey

Would you consider letting your daughter enjoy the experiments with her older sibling? That happens quite often in my house. Both children come together to enjoy the projects or experiments. Some my oldest remembers doing when she was younger and some my youngest looks forward to doing again when she is older.
Either way, I would use this as an incentive to move forward with HOD. My youngest is fortunate to have previews into what she'll enjoy later in school. She's so excited to get there that she is often working ahead in her guide. I love to see that kind of self-motivation and I encourage it!
I don't think the Biology 101 DVD has any experiments but I've heard wonderful things about it. Maybe using that as a supplement since she's on the older age range of CtC will satiate her desire for more science, though. I've also found Science Encyclopedias to be a huge hit (the ones with a lot of pictures).

You could definitely have her watch the DVD's - I have heard they are excellent too.

But, if she wants to do more experiments, she won't be. There are more experiments in the Land Animals book itself that are not all scheduled in the HOD guide. She could just do those. Or, if it's just a matter of doing more science as she is 13 yo, adding the DVD's would work fine!

One other thought - you've taught the science for RevtoRev and MTMM. Have you had experience with the RTR science? f you were to place your 13 yo dd in the science that fits her skill level and maturity, would she place in RTR's science? Some families do the next level up for science each year with the younger level core guide. Not ideal - but if a student is more science-minded and gifted skill wise in science than in other subject areas, that is one easy way to meet that need. What do you think?
In Christ,
Julie

Thanks for the replies. I may get the biology DVD. She just thinks the experiments aren't as exciting as her sisters, but doesn't really want extra work. I think it is the grass is greener on the other side thing going on. She is doing great in CTC. At this point I don't want to rock the boat as everyone is pretty happy, even though she would like more experiments, they will come why rush her. Now I sound lazy.
Thanks for your help.
