Here we go... starting Preparing!

Post by MelInKansas » Mon Dec 02, 2013 5:58 am

Just wanted to share. I so appreciate all the information and encouragement on this board. The HOD materials themselves are excellent and pretty easy to use, but I found one post with people who were starting Preparing and had organized everything and that was so helpful to me! We are starting 1/2 speed for now, but may try to hit full-speed or close to it by January. I will not push too hard for that, but we will see if it is feasible. It would be really helpful to me if she could be full-speed before a lot of our weekly activities start back up again.

I have prayed over it, done a little bit of planning, and looked through many of my books.... so here we go!

The first 1/2 day went well. She really enjoyed the drawing lesson in Draw and Write Through History and the research on the coat of arms. Though we struggled to find a definition that didn't have 5 more words she didn't know.... At least we got the research done before the Internet went down! God always provides.

So tomorrow is R side, back into DITHR which she loves, math, and LA (which she doesn't always love).

I'm glad you are off and running with PHFHG! :D It sounds like a good first day. It also sounds like a super plan to start half-speed and ease into it, especially considering this busy time of year. :D I hope you have a good rest of the week!

Thanks Julie,

1/2 speed has been great and about all we can accomplish right now with all the other things going on. Things should slow down next week as we break from many of our regular weekly activities.

1/2 speed is also allowing us to enjoy the elements of the program without feeling rushed and I always love that! My DD loves Draw and Write Through History and I was not sure if she would. She is doing well with all the other stuff though we are going to work our way up to independence in some of it.
