question about math placement.

We started homeschooling official last year when the twins turned 5 and it has been an amazing blessing. The curriculum we first went with was ok but not a fit and I was introduced to heart of Dakota. I'm so excited to try this and so are my kids but I am having a little dilemma on which math program to go with. We did the placement tests and they recommended that if the placement was passed with 80% or better to go to the next level. They passed the 1a with 82% but got a range of 60-65% on the 1b section. They have never done the Singapore method before but have a good solid start on math. I just don't know if I should start them in the 1a/ 1b pack, see if they can go ahead and start on the 2a/2b or if there a way to start at 1b.
What are your suggestions.
Thank you

I would start at 1A and let them go at their own pace, just to get the feel of Singapore Math. It's pretty advanced.... I think technically 1A you would start when they turn 7.

You will have some review I am sure with 1A, but I would probably still start there. Singapore can move fast in spots and the concepts of number bonds will probably be new for them. In 1B the concept of multiplication is introduced and at times it can move a little faster. If you look at the Singapore website 1B is suggested for average 2nd graders.
