Coming Back

Can I just say how much I have missed HOD. Due to my son's dyslexia, I've tried a couple of years of "doing it on my own" and I'm fed up and exhausted. I'm looking forward to coming back "home" next fall. The writing will still be a HUGE struggle for him, but he loves that HOD integrates a variety of learning approaches (audio-visual, crafts, etc). Just thought I'd share that for moms who may be struggling right now. Persevere!

I'm delighted for you both. I can't imagine doing my own thing, so bravo to you for trying. I have too many children and I need the structure the manuals provide. At the end of the year, I just collapse and praise God and exclaim, "We did it!"

What manual will your son be doing?

I'm not quite sure at this point. According to our history cycle, I'd put him in Resurrection to Reformation. I'd like to stick with that.

My daughter is going to do the World Geography for 10th (replacing the math & science with Algebra II and Biology). She's been drooling over it ever since it came out.

Yay! It's so awesome to have you back! I used to love reading your blog and took advantage of a few things you had made and shared. I was sad to see you move away from HOD, but you seemed so talented and happy with your decision. Thrilled to see you here again.

Oh, and my ds is severely dyslexic. We are using RTR this year. It is going very well.

Welcome back! I remember when I first found HOD and we were making a curriculum decision I would look at the weekly check-ins and always click on your blog. I would tell my husband, "Look what this 7 & 9 yr old are doing!" So how did they get to be 11 & 14?

Daisy,

Welcome back lady!!!! I grieved the "loss" of your blog :D but was encouraged by the reason you left the social media for a season (your sweet girl).

I'm with you! I did the same thing, but it only took me about 9 months to come back. We will not begin Preparing until next fall, but I've gone back to some of the books in Bigger that we didn't finish, so I feel like I am 'sort of' back in the loop. :D My dd has dyslexia as well. Reading is a struggle, so it will just mean I may need to still read most of her books to her. Maybe she'll surprise me by next fall. :) It does feel good to be back. Yes, it will take perseverance, but I am more confident that I now can guide her through the difficulties without so much frustration. Welcome back. :)
