We are now in Unit 33 of Bigger, so I guess I better pull out my Preparing stuff and start getting ready! I appreciate the threads here that have good preparation tips, and depending on how illness travels through our family we may not start until after Thanksgiving, but I also want to start reading the independent reading selections myself, and start getting set up!

Have fun! Keep us up-to-date on your Preparing journey. :)

We will be in Preparing next fall! I'm planning to order in the spring when we receive income tax. I know when I have it, I will be aching to begin. :) I can't believe how close we already are to 2014. Only 9 months until we are back in HOD! :D DD is really making strides in her reading and math, which is why we took a break from it, to focus on these areas. Looking forward to actually having Preparing In my hands! :D :D

Thanks everyone! Pam I remember you guys are on the countdown. I am definitely excited, but not sure if my DD is ready for the increased workload. We are going to start 1/2 speed whenever we do start. I think that will help a lot. I may plan to take the whole semester 1/2 speed until I see she needs more. I think that would put us finishing Preparing in the spring of her 4th grade year (2015).

Melissa, Since my dd will be in 5th grade when we begin, I may try full speed. I will not use extensions, but I am hopeful that, by that time, she will be able to handle the independent reading books pretty much on her own. I like having the 4-day week. That may allow us to do full speed and then finish up on the fifth day, if need be. But, I don't want to rush through it. If it takes more than a year, so be it. I want dd to enjoy learning, so if we need to take it in bite size pieces, that's what we will do. This year has been a learning experience for me when it comes to her challenges. Through our consultant's instructions, in doing a mastery program, we have had to spend days on a certain math concept until I knew she fully understood it before moving on. At the same token, if it means taking time to do the reading and the projects, even learning the Scripture, I want it all to be internalized, and not piled on to get the work done in a certain period of time. We'll see what next year brings. :)

We finished Beyond 2 weeks ago and I totally forgot to pull out Bigger until the night before! Fortunately, I had done it with my son so it was easy to get ready.

LOL Christine! I was kind of similar the 2nd time starting Beyond. I had ordered the math workbooks (but had gotten one book that was wrong), and then started Beyond and figured out I didn't have several things I needed! Since this will be my first time in Preparing I want to get into it just a little before we actually start. I would like to have the time to read the books my DD will be reading independently so I am familiar with them. I really enjoy pre-reading books she will read.
