Has anyone used CLEP tests?

How does it work? How much extra time does it take in your day to day life? How many tests did a student prepare for at once?
I know the basics, but I just need some hand-holding.

My oldest two boys have taken CLEP tests. I encouraged them to read the book and take three practice tests. When they were under my direct scrutiny, they did. However, one was married and then took one. He barely cracked a book that time and passed one. My second son has taken three and is getting ready to take two more. He studies for one at a time. We will continue to utilize them. It saves a lot of time and money.

Our future plan is to have our dc do College Plus, which utilizes CLEP tests and the like. I think it makes good sense to save money and earn credits more quickly in the areas dc are able to.
The staff at College Plus is very friendly and helpful, should you desire to find out more about their approach and the way they can help.
In Christ,
Julie

My oldest plans to take his first CLEP when he finishes this semester of history. He'll prepare as 8arrows dc did. He'll go this route because the wants to finish his first 2 years post high-school as economically as possible via a Community College. The courses he plans to CLEP are all acceptable credits at the institution he'll be attending.

We are currently using College Plus with our two oldest. They are studying hard and earning lots of credits. They are enjoying both college plus and their CLEP courses. My kiddos do about 3 hours of high school and 3 hours of CLEP study each day. With 8 kiddos it sure makes their college educations a lot less daunting! Blessings as you plan for your children!
