Placement for 7th grader and 9th grader

Post by heidip2p » Mon Oct 07, 2013 9:38 pm

HI :)
Our family just switched to HOD. :) :) :) We started with our preschoolers and fell in love. Then we added our 1st grader and then our 3rd and 5th. :) We are using LHTH, LHFHG and BHFHG.

Currently our 7th grader is using MFW ECC and our 9th grader is using MFW AHL. Both are girls and in many ways on the similar skill levels. They are best friends. :) Any ideas on how I can combine them into a guide? I would love to switch them over to HOD if I can.

Have you looked at the placement chart yet for the girls? I would first look to see where the 7th grader places. From there, you can determine of beefing that up for the 9th grader would work. There are a series of posts about beefing up the "middle school" guide for high school which would probably be helpful for you.

Hi hiedip2p, and welcome to the HOD Borad! :D StephanieU gave good advice to check out the placement chart - that is a great place to start, and here is a link to it...

I'd look carefully at the "Revival to Revolution" and the "Missions to Modern Marvels" columns with your 7th grader in mind first. Extensions are available for your 9th grader, and there are ample threads on the board about counting credits with these guides for your 9th grader, so choosing with what your 7th grader can be successful with will be a super way to start! Could you please share, when you get the chance, a little bit about what you discovered from the first page of the placement chart? I'd like to hear about each of your dd's reading, writing, grammar, and math especially - when you have time. Then, we'll all chime in with better, more specific advice. As you know from doing HOD with your other dc - you'll certainly love doing it with your older daughters too! :D HTH, and I'll try to check back to see what you've shared!

In Christ,
Julie

Just wanted to update. We decided to put our 0th grader in World Geo. Our 7th grader will finish out MFW ECC then switch to HOD this summer. We are so thrilled to have found HOD. In just a few weeks it has been such a blessing.
