Catholic Friendly

I've tried to do a little research to see if HOD is Catholic friendly but I have been unable to find much information. I ask because I know that HOD used Rod and Staff for part of the curriculum. Rod and Staff has some very anti-Catholic statements weaved into the curriculum but I don't think it's in the books that HOD uses.

I know that HOD has a protestant slant, which doesn't bother me at all. I just want to make sure it's not opposed to the Catholic religion. Thank you for the information.

Have you checked out this thread yet? It looks like it would have the answers you are looking for. The only Rod and Staff HOD uses is grammar and fine motor skills for K/1st grade.

This helps so much!

Here's another Catholic thread:

We're Catholic and happily using HOD. We are on Unit 8 of Rev to Rev and have had zero issues with the material. We are even using the Bible materials and simply adding and discussing as necessary. For example, when the book spoke about building our foundation on God and had us list what we could do to make that happen, they listed things like read the bible, pray, etc... and we add on: go to mass, sacraments, pray the rosary, etc... For the History, I think the only guide that will need to be added to/adjusted is the Reformation one to be sure the Catholic point of view from those years is not left out. I also plan to read aloud stories of saints when we can to fit into the time period. And we do a separate Catholic Catechism lesson each week as well. I still have my son do the Bible work and scripture memorization etc... as I feel that knowing scripture is an important part of our faith.

Feel free to message me if you have any specific questions.
:) Judy
