Another DITHOR Question...Please help me figure this out

Edited to delete my venting .
I purchased the 5/6 Boy's DITHOR book package and placed a neon sticky on each book displaying the genre. I planned to use the 4/5 student book for my young 5th grader. I have the 6/7/8 student book for my 6th grader. It is our first time using DITHOR.
Here are the questions. Do you place your children in a lower reading level book so they can focus more on the analysis and deep thinking required by DITHOR?
I also bought the 6/7/8 student book for my 6th grader but this is his first year in DITHOR. I read the recommendation in the back of the teacher's guide and it says he should start the 2/3 or 4/5 student book. Well, I didn't know this before ordering it. I must've missed the memo on the website (I've done that before LOL). So how do I know which student book to place my 6th grader into?
I bought the 4/5 student book for my 5th grader but now I'm not sure if I should have him do a lower level as well. His reading comprehension is at grade level but I'm just not sure. How do I determine placement?
Also, if I use the 4/5 book for both students, can I copy the pages or do I have to buy another 4/5 student book?
Thanks!
