Narrations

We are just starting out and learning how to do narrations. In CTC I read somewhere that a timer should be set for 3-5 minutes for a narration. The problem we've had so far is that it is not taking nearly that long. My boys get it all done in just a few seconds! Honestly, after reading only a paragraph as suggested for the narration, I don't think I could even stretch it out to a minimum of three minutes (and I'm a talker!). :D

Any suggestions?
Lori

P.S. I'm so grateful for all the help I've been given here as a newbie. Blessings to all!

I don't worry about time, as long as they are telling me the main ideas and using proper speech techniques.

I don't remember the CTC oral narrations having a specific time limit. If they do it will say so in the box. If it doesn't say so then they can narrate for as long or as short as they want as long as they follow the oral narration guidelines in the appendix.

The 3-5 minutes is for the detailed oral narrations. You select one paragraph from the story to read out loud and that is the starting point. They have to pick it up from there, retelling the next part of the story (and as much as they can in 3-5 minutes) with as many details as possible. Make sense?
