So, we are basically doing the left side of LHFHG and the right of Beyond this year with my daughter (using Horizons 1 for math). My question is about storytime. I am assuming there is no problem doing the LHFHG storytime this year and Beyond's next year. Is this what others have done that did a split like this? I think the Burgess books are the right level for my daughter, so I think the Beyond ones will be too much for her. But, I am loving the way the spelling and grammar looks in Beyond - right where she is.

This is exactly what HOD recommends in this placement, and it is what most families I've spoken with are doing!

Your plan makes total sense, and I think it will let you totally enjoy the Burgess books, as well as totally enjoy the Beyond Storytime books next year. Personally, I'd not skip the excellent training in beginning oral narration skills and listening comprehension skills that the familiarity of progressing through the Burgess books affords. It made Beyond's Storytime a total success for our kiddos. HTH!
In Christ,
Julie

I can't add to what Julie said, but yes, the Burgess books are great, not to be missed, and a wonderful stepping stone. You will enjoy them thoroughly.

Thanks ladies! That is what I thought, and I just wanted to make sure I was right. She is advanced in math, reading, and spelling. But, she is on par for writing and listening I think.
