Would this be an issue?

I want to do the last 4 guides (before hs) in three years. Using them for 5 days a week instead of 4.

I know there have been people that have done this. I think as long as your dc is properly placed and up to the work load then yes it is doable.

I agree with what LynnH said. It will be pretty meaty though!

My daughter will be in the same boat. She will be one guide behind when she graduates and I hate the thought of her missing out on the last one. I never even thought of this. I don't know if she will be able to handle that, but we have a few years to decide. She's only going into 7th grade.

If it's going to be too much, and I think it would be for my ds, I'd not do the last guide and just 100% enjoy the other ones. :) Our teenagers' lives are about so much more than just academics - the heart issues and the time it takes to talk through things is equally if not more important. :D Also, we want to look back on our last years of homeschooling and think those were great memories made together - as opposed to, wow, that was stressful. However, certainly the age of the student and the amount of busyness outside of school makes a difference as well, so I know you will know best here. :)

Julie

I like this plan. I'd consider buying some of the storytime titles (if there will be such a category) from the last guide at least for summer reading. Those have been some of our favorite titles in the guides (as well as many of the extension readings).

We decided not to try to do the last 4 guides in 3 years. I decided it would probably overwhelm me. :)

Smart gal! :D One thing we homeschool moms forget to do sometimes is think about how WE will do with a plan. If we are overwhelmed, we may start entertaining the idea of ps. Usually, in most circumstances, homeschooling - even at a slower pace - is better than the ps alternative. I'm glad you are choosing a pace that you can enjoy too!!! :D :D :D A happy mama = happy dc! :D
