homeschool newbie of 6th, 4th, and 1st graders
Hi, all! I am so excited (and surprised!) to have been called to homeschool my children next year! After tons of research (my husband, at one point, said I was "obsessed" with homeschool curriculum catalogs!) and talking with many homeschooling families, I have decided that HOD is best for us.
My son who is going into 1st grade next year and my 4th grade daughter (who has cognitive disabilities) will be doing Beyond Little Hearts. My question is this: I have a 12 year old boy who is going into 6th grade. He is academically gifted, he loves to read and learn, and school comes very easily to him. Should I just jump into Resurrection to Reformation (without doing the Creation to Christ) since it will be my our first year of homeschool? Rather than trying Revival to Revolution? Also, is a high school curriculum coming in the future with HOD? Thanks so much for your input and thoughts!

Re: homeschool newbie of 6th, 4th, and 1st graders
If you look at the placement chart and he places in RTR then that is where I would put him. I wouldn't put him in Rev to Rev, especially since this will be an entire new way of schooling for him. The only thing that might be a little challenging about jumpin in at RTR is learning how to do written narrations. These are different than summaries he might have done in ps. The instructions for how to do them are in the appendix of the guides. He then would do Rev to Rev for 6th grade and MTMM for 8th grade and that would put him right on target for the high school guides. The first high school guide, which is the World Geography guide comes out this fall. The plan is then to release 3 more high school guides, one each year. You can see the planned scope and sequence of those guides by looking at the bottom of this page http://www.heartofdakota.com/scope.php.

Thanks, Lynn! I really appreciate your thoughts!! Do you know if the high school curriculum will have a way/forms/ideas to create transcripts?
Re: homeschool newbie of 6th, 4th, and 1st graders
I don't know the answer to the transcript question. I haven't seen Carrie mention it. Having just graduated 1 I can tell you that the transcripts really aren't that hard. There are plenty of samples out there to copy from or there are some programs you can use to do it. I use homeschool tracker so it pretty much did it for me once I entered in grades, but there are many other things available.
