What is the difference between the textbook and workbook? Is it one consumable and the other not? Hmm maybe I just need some afternoon coffee to get my brain going again.

HOD reccommends using the textbooks with Singapore at level 3A. Carrie has written hands-on activities in the guides to go with all of the previous levels...and at this level switches the kids over to pictoral examples in the textbook to go with the lessons. I don't believe that the textbooks are consumable...but I haven't done level 3A yet, so I can't tell you for sure. I have the Bigger guide, and it looks like when you're in 3A, some days the work is in the workbook, and some days they do problems from the tetbook which I assume they write on paper.
Hope that helps some...

The hands on in Bigger are for 2A and 2B. Where's the explinations for 3A/B? Do I need to get the TM for them? We will be finishing up 2A/B and want to start in the fall with 3A/B. Are the instructions in the textbook?

Yes, you just follow the schedule for 3A/3B from the appendix and do the textbook pages then the workbook pages. they are self explanatory. There are no handson activities for 3A/3B.

Also it be nice to have the answers to the work and maybe a bit of explaining of how to do it. Already there was some stuff I had to take a double look at because I wasn't sure at first how they wanted it presented. I guess I am use to one way of doing things and we both are learning a new way. We are comming from Horizons which was a headache from week one in our house. For 3 months Singapore has gone well in our house. Or maybe I just need the boose of confidecne that 3rd grade math still isn't hard yet. I just have to remember how to do things, like write them down instead of using my calculater.
