Finished DITHOR 2/3, now what?

My 3rd grader just finished DITHOR (which by the way we loved)! We're starting week 27 of Bigger next week, so what am I supposed to do for the "reading" time now that DITHOR is done? I'm trying to figure out if we got ahead somehow (which I don't think we did) or if we're just done...input please! Thanks ;)

When my kids finish their assigned DITHOR for the year, I don't typically assign any more. I just let them read for pleasure. That said, are you sure you haven't skipped a genre? Did you allow 5 days for the project at the end of each genre? If you skipped either of these then that would make you be "ahead" of the guide and DITHOR is scheduled every day in the Bigger guide. Or were there days in which you did DITHOR but no the rest of the guide?

Wow...somehow I completely skipped over the end projects for each genre...OOOPS!!! I don't know how I did that! I think in the very beginning when we were first starting DITHOR, I was a bit overwhelmed at how it all worked, and I remember seeing the days 15-19 in the teacher guide but initially thought they must only be for the older grades since the 2/3 student book only had stuff listed for days 1-15. I guess I just continued to assume that those days were just for older grades each time and never again looked closely at them! Oh well...can't really go back now, I guess those book projects will be extra new and fun next year, lol! Thanks for clarifying for me!

We are "behind" as I didn't start DITHR right away when we started Bigger. And if I have to drop something in a day it's usually DITHR because we aren't coinciding with the genres for storytime anyway since we started later. So, next year I will continue DITHR 2/3, but I imagine if you WANT to keep going you could move up to 4/5/6 or start over with a new set of books at a higher level but do the 2/3 workbook again with those books? So, you could keep going (do the book projects this time, they are a blast!) or you could quit and let him read for fun. My DD needs no encouragement to read for fun. My DH was telling me all these things I should do for my DD for reading during the summer and I kind of looked at him like "you're crazy." This girl will read 2+ hours a day, as long as I keep going to the library to feed her reading habit.
