I have been planning on using LHFHG for my ds who will be 6 in Sept and LHTH for my ds who will be 4 in Oct. He doesnt know his alphabet sounds or anything - we havent worked on more than colors and shapes really. So I was thinking LHTH would be great for him, but then I was thinking maybe I should skip it or wait on it and just let him sit in when he wants to with his brother on LHFHG. What do you moms think? Also, if he starts LHTH at (well almost) 4, would he even be ready for LHFHG at (almost) 5? Or maybe I should wait to do LHTH when he is 5 and LHFHG at six? Thanks!

If it were me I would wait another year and let him listen in with big brother as he desires. Then start him in LHTH at age 5 and if you need to by then you can always add the LHFHG kindergarten activities to the LHTH program. If not, LHTH as is is appropriate for age 5. That will also give you a year between guides

I am using LHTH with my 3.5 yr old because he was so jealous of big brother's school time. My older son is 5, and he's using MFW K (My Father's World) this year. He does love to sit in on LHTH with the 3.5 yr old, but it is too easy for him at 5.5 yrs. If you added in phonics and math, as was already mentioned, it could be great for a 5 yr old, though! (Next fall, when they are 4 and almost 6, we'll be using LHFHG with the older and continuing LHTH (with Rod and Staff workbooks) for the younger.

I have done LHTH two years in a row just for kids who want school and special time with mama! It's such a blessing for this. I've beefed it up the following year with more advanced Bible stories and phonics, but this has worked well for us.

LHTH is so great for 3.5-4 year olds who are just learning letters and sounds. My 3.5 YO thrives, when I have the time to do it with her. You could also choose to do it 1/2 speed - 3 days a week or something - and then it would take longer than a year to complete. This is what I was trying to do. We may do full speed for the summer since I skipped so much this school year.

I have a little boy who is 3 yrs 10 months old, and we are doing LHTH about half speed right now. LHTH is perfect for this age group (old 3's and all 4's)! We just don't get in a full 5 day school week around here

so doing it this way is perfect. I'm hoping that LHTH will last until he's just about 5, at which point we'll begin Little Hearts.
If you wait until he's five, you'll probably have to add in a math and phonics program as well, which is very doable. What do you feel the Lord is leading you do? That's the most important factor

Thank you Sarah, you made the most important point of all. I will continue to pray about it
