MTMM for high school....my plan

Well I think I have a plan, unless The Lord tells me no.

I feel like MTMM is the way to go with my 14 year dd.

I was going to do MTMM as written and adding in extensions for history.

Here is what I thought for beefing it up:
English/Lit-Add in the Shakespeare study(from Resurrection to Reformation. Will I need the guide for this?)Finish our last 5 genres of 7/8 DITHOR

Science- add Chemistry 101 dvd(not sure if I should drop the Evolution vs Creation study w/gentics. I think this would be great study and she has read the book on her own already, so it would not be difficult.?) or just do it as written.

French-I am still debating on this. She has really drug her feet with this last 1 1/2.(Have Rosetta Stone)

Economics- add R. C. Sproul Jr. dvd/workbook.

Does this seem like too much? Then the following year I would just go right into the Geography guide as written. Do you see any problems or things I should change around?

Looks like a good plan, and yes, I think you would need the HOD guide to do the Shakespeare study. At the least, you would need the Shakespeare notebook (which is beautiful!)

Shakespeare is done 1 time per unit. I'm not sure that I would be willing to buy the entire guide in order to complete that 1 box just 1 time each unit. The stories are read in order, often splitting up the longer stories into 2 parts. The notebook pages have a picture to color. If you didn't have the guide you wouldn't know which quote needed to be copied onto the pages. But you could have your child choose a portion which stood out to him or her and have them copy it into the box for the appropriate story. Also I believe 2 of the stories are skipped due to content but they are listed in the introduction which is on the HOD website. But with an older student the content might be fine. That is a personal decision and one you should make on your own.

Sounds like a great idea! I'm assuming this must be for your dd's freshman year of high school, so that is the way I answered here. Please correct me if I am wrong!

The Shakespeare notebooking pages and "Tales of Shakespeare" are necessary, and as Heather4Him shared - they are beautiful! The guide would be nice but not a must in this situation, and Maadrose has some good suggestions for this.

I'd add the DVD's if this is for high school. The "Evolution: The Grand Experiment" study is outstanding! The book, the DVD's, and the student book each have their part in this fascinating study. If your dd has not seen the DVD nor done the student book, I'd probably have her do it. If she has, I'd not have her repeat it.

Maybe take a year off and try Spanish next year with the World Geography guide? You will know best here!

I am not sure how much work this would add, but if it is manageable, I think this sounds like a good idea.

HTH - I am so excited for you and your dd to do MTMM! My ds grew so much this year - in so many, many ways. We really enjoyed our year together in MTMM. You have much to look forward to!
