Questions about Extensions

Post by chemambk » Sat Apr 13, 2013 4:20 pm

I am considering using the Rev to Rev Guide with extensions and have some questions. Do the extension books actually replace the basic books or would the student read the extensions in addition to the other books? Also, are there follow up directions/questions for the extension books on the weekly plans or do I need to plan those on my own?

Thanks so much!!

Extensions are books that are read in addition to the ones already scheduled. That is the case in the guides I own at least :) There are instructions on the extension reader schedule.

Hi chemambk, and welcome to the HOD Board! :D We used RevtoRev last year, and you are sure in for a super year! :) We did not use the extensions, as our son is young for them, but they look wonderful. Here is a link to a thread that was recently about this, in case this is helpful...

Waterandclay already gave a good answer here, so I'll just share that there is a rotation of follow-up skills explained in detail in the RevtoRev Appendix. This rotation of skills follows up the reading of each day's extension book. The extensions correlate with the chronological flow of the time period within the daily plans, so they are a neat way to expand the learning. :) HTH, and I think you have made an excellent choice in choosing HOD for your dc! :D
