New Geography High School Guide - WOW!

Post by Tiffini » Sun Apr 07, 2013 2:33 pm

I just had to pop in to say that I was able to see the Geography Guide materials and the first week of plans at the Cincy convention this weekend - and all I can say is WOW!!!!! I am more excited than ever to use this guide next year! Again, I am so extremely thankful and amazed at what Carrie has managed to put together for us.

While I was there, several people stopped by to check it out who were unfamiliar with HOD, but were trying to find something for their high schooler. As they looked at the materials and the week of plans and began to realize how it is all integrated and how everything that a student needs for a full year of high school is covered in that two page spread, I heard several exclamations of: "Wow, if I only had something like this last year when I pulled it all together myself and got totally burnt out!" or "How come I haven't heard of this before??" or "Nancy, come here, you've got to take a look at this!" :D

I feel so blessed that I found HOD 6 years ago. It truly has met all of our educational needs and enabled me to stay sane and still run a household while accomplishing the educating of 5 children.

God bless you, Austin Family and Julie!!

I totally agree Tiffini. It just looks fantastic. Having done 10th, 11th and 12th on my own with my daughter I can't tell you how relieved I am to know I don't have to do it again. It was nice to see you at the convention again also.

Yes, I graduate my second next month. I have mainly put my own together for both boys. It is going to be nice to have something planned out for high school. The integration looks wonderful! I wish HOD came to the ICHE convention in Illinois. I can't complain too much though. HOD makes it to Des Moines, Iowa, some years, and I could travel to that one.

Maadrose, I know that Carrie and Mike just got the first week printed the night before heading out to the convention! I still don't know how they were able to make that happen. :) I'm sure that Carrie will make it available on the website as soon as she is able. Maybe she needs to make changes to that copy as well, since it was done quickly in order to have it available at the convention? Hopefully, it won't be long, but I know how hard Carrie is working on our behalf! You won't be disappointed, though, I promise! :D

So jealous! I don't think the Austin's are going to be on the West coast this year, at least not that I've seen. How need for you to hear those comments and be able to smile knowing to yourself just how wonderful it will be from experience! I know that praise can be such a boost to the spirit when you've worked so hard and so long on something, so I hope that Mike and Carrie were blessed by the kind words, and exclamations of wonder and excitement. I've met and worked for some important/celebrity people, and I'm pretty sure I would be more Fangirl about meeting Carrie , than I would about someone like George Lucas! lol poor comparison, but you know what I mean lol.

Yes, my children think it is much more exciting to meet the writers of their curriculum than "celebrities".

I can't wait to see it!!! (And, yes, Carrie and family---you too Julie---would be considered celebrity status should we ever get the privilege to meet them. (Though we are in the way south and they neeeeeee-verrrrrrrrr make it down this far (said in my "life is totally unfair and I have been wronged" voice 8)
