What is the writing like in CTC
Over the year, my kids have really improved with their weekly writing in PHFHG. Their write-ups are usually at least a page in length.
How much does the writing ramp up in CTC? Are they going to start writing 3-5 paragraph write-ups? Are the write ups done in the student notebook, or on lined paper?
Thanks.

If your are asking about written narrations then those they write in the student notebook. They are I think around 8-10 sentences, but I can't remember for sure. In Write with the Best is where they start writing multiple paragraph writing assignments and those they do on notebook paper.

Re: What is the writing like in CTC
My oldest is going into the 6th grade, and I would like for her to be in a program that teaches writing multiple paragraphs. I don't care where they are written, in the notebook or on lined paper, so long as they are taught. Sorry I wasn't clear.
I just wanted to ask if 3-5 paragraph writing is in CTC, and if that's the progression from PHFHG to CTC.

The writing program in CTC, Write with the Best does teach writing multiple paragraph assignments. Rod and Staff 5 starts teaching this also. Here is a link to the table of contents http://www.edudps.com/WRITE-WITH-THE-BE ... amples.pdf You can see they write a fable and a short story that I know are multiple paragraphs. This after they learn to write good descriptive paragraphs.

LynnH,
Thanks for verifying the info in WWTB. My oldest will be doing R&S 5 as well.
Good to know. I just want to see some progression in the area of writing. I was starting to get a little concerned.
Thanks.

We have been pleased with the writing progression through HOD. It does start out gentle (which is a good thing imo ). But, trust me, it definitely picks up (which is also a good thing ).
Here is a link to a post that Carrie made some time ago about the progression of writing through the guides. (This was written prior to the release of Rev to Rev so only goes through RtR, but I think it will make you feel better. I also have a 6th grader doing CtC, which is older than my oldest child went through CtC. Now that I know how much my oldest is writing, I am glad for easing into it in the earlier years .

Thanks for the link -- WOW.
I'll have to print that off and review it from time to time as a reminder. Thanks for posting that.
